Create a new standard for point guard play by building your basis of fundamentals and individual skills while elevating your team play I.Q. Court vision, decision making, and advanced ball handling will be emphasized. The game of basketball has transitioned from a forward-dominated game to a guard-dominant game. B.E.S.T. Basketball Chicago's coaches will prepare players to anticipate while developing the critical thinking and leadership skills, transferable both on and off the court. Point guards are looked at as floor generals, success facilitators, and scorers. This point guard specific program will allow participants to become all they can be in today’s game of point guard basketball.

B.E.S.T. Basketball Chicago's Mission:

B.E.S.T. Basketball Chicago was founded in 2012 as a basketball skills development program to foster youth players' love for the game. We take each child seriously and meet them where they are skills-wise day, then challenge them to improve and be proud of their progress. Our very experienced staff of coaches uses differentiation in our teaching methods so each player is able to improve. B.E.S.T.'s program is constantly re-analyzed by our owners and staff to be sure we are using the game of basketball and the disciplines within the game to help your children learn about the hard work necessary to achieve success in basketball, in their academics, and in their lives. Every stretching drill, skill station, and competition is intended to respect your child's ability to be their very best and challenge them to grow further. Our players play games during all sessions, but the mission of our program is basketball skills development. Whenever we are in the gym we work on improving basketball skills, then transition the skills into game settings. This model has worked very well for Chicago area hoopers ranging in skill level from complete beginner to very experienced. We have many players who play on their grammar school, high school, and competitive club teams who keep coming to us for the correct and challenging repetitions we provide. All players, all the way up to the most skilled and experienced professional, need to get their work in. We help them do that at Basketball Elite Skills Training, Inc. Our sessions include excellent instruction and correct repetitions. Each session also includes challenging and well-coached competitions that are very fun for the players. We divide our players according to skill levels, not age levels - no player is held back, and no player trains in an environment where they cannot keep up and build their confidence.

When it comes to the B.E.S.T. development for student-athletes, the B.E.S.T. facilities in which to hone their skills, and the B.E.S.T. tools to help them surpass their performance expectations again and again, only the B.E.S.T. will do.

Each week players participate in skills mini-camps consisting of large group drilling, skill-based smaller group detailed drilling, and competitive games. Players are challenged according to skill level. Every session is a two-hour skills development session and includes a game for every player.

B.E.S.T. Basketball Chicago Introductory Division

typically 3rd-4th grade players, but also less skilled older players

Goals - Learn fundamental movement skills and build overall motor skills, and begin to learn team principles and concepts through group skills competitions and 3-on-3 play, spending ~3/4 of on-court time on individual fundamental training and ~1/4 of on-court time on games/competitions.

Recommendations - Participate in basketball 1-2 times per week and participate daily in other sports activities, with minimal full court 5-on-5 competition until further fundamentals are developed. In addition to structured clinics and training, players should participate in appropriately fun pickup games and practicing with friends and family that fosters their love of the game and keeps them coming back for more basketball enjoyment.

B.E.S.T. Basketball Chicago Intermediate Division

typically 5th-7th grade players, but also very skilled younger players and less skilled older players

Goals - Learn fundamental and basic basketball-specific skills and concepts at all basketball positions by drilling, playing full court 5-on-5 games, and smaller group skills competitions and games (1-on-1, 2-on-2, 3-on-3, and other competitions), spending ~2/3 of on-court time on individual fundamental training and ~1/3 of on-court time on games/competitions

Recommendations - Participate in basketball 2-5 times per week and participate daily in other sports/fitness activities, with a mixture of individual skills development drills, 1-on-1, 2-on-2, 3-on-3, and full court 5-on-5 competitions using correct fundamentals and team play concepts. In addition to structured clinics and training, players need to seek out appropriately competitive pickup games that are serious and challenging.

B.E.S.T. Basketball Chicago Advanced Division

typically 8th-11th grade players, but also very skilled younger players

Goals - Further develop and consolidate overall basketball skills and knowledge, with more targeted position concept drilling, full court 5-on-5 games, and smaller group skills competitions and games (1-on-1, 2-on-2, 3-on-3), spending ~2/3 of on-court time on individual fundamental training and ~1/3 of on-court time on games/competitions.

Recommendations - Participate in competitive basketball 3-7 times per week and participate daily in other sports/fitness activities, with a mixture of individual skills development drills, 1-on-1, 2-on-2, 3-on-3, and full court 5-on-5 competitions using correct fundamentals and team play concepts. In addition to structured clinics and training, players need to seek out appropriately competitive pickup games that are serious and challenging.
